East of England Faiths Council

The East of England Faiths Council was formed to facilitate the major faith traditions represented in the region in making input to regional strategy and issues, to act as a clear point of contact for regional governance and other bodies; and to promote the contribution of faiths to the life and well being of the region.

In the words of Rt Hon Stephen Timms MP, Government Adviser on Faith Issues:

‘Faith communities and people of faith make a very significant contribution to all aspects of the region’s well-being. Since it was established the East of England Faiths Council has played a key role in bringing together the main faiths of the region, providing a regular forum through which issues from strategic development to support for community activity can be addressed, and ensuring that the faith voice is heard on matters that affect everyone who lives or works in the region.’

The members of the East of England Faiths Council have substantial involvement within their faith communities or in their local inter faith organisations. Their activities keep them in close contact with grassroots perceptions and give them a broader overview.

FaithNetEast
This is an information and learning hub for faith communities in the East of England. It is a joint initiative co-hosted by the East of England Faiths Council and the Faiths and Civil Society Unit of Goldsmiths College in the University of London.

Its purpose is to bring together people and organisations from all faiths in the region in a network for sharing information, learning from one another, developing skills and projects, and forming partnerships.

Two elements of its work are the provision of a Faiths IT Helpline and the Community Leaders Support Group training programme.

Visit the FaithNetEast web site for information on these resources, and to search the FaithsBase database of faith groups in the region.
