For the last twenty years the Islamic Academy, in with the University of Cambridge, have been organising regular seminars relating to religion in a multi-faith society. The process has been concerned with the protection and promotion of diversity in a pluralist society, and with the substantial core of values which are shared by different faiths, including truth, justice, liberty, respect and compassion.
Pretending that all religions are the same fails to do justice to the genuine differences which do exist. A multi-faith group working with the Faiths Council has prepared a set of papers outlining perpectives shared by the major faith communities, which were presented to the East of England Regional Assembly (EERA) at its meeting on 3 April 2003. These are on:
- local community planning and development
- education
- agriculture
- health and social care
- policing and justice
- wealth creation and employment
